About me

What I love most about writing is bringing characters to life so the reader feels like they know them from the very first scene. One day, I began thinking about the stories I wanted to read. Honestly, I just started writing and found it to be quite addictive, and here we are!I read a lot of diverse books, so if you're ever looking for your next read, follow me on my socials. I'm usually raving about a book that's not mine.I have an outline planned for a sequel to my debut, The Onionologist, but right now I'm working on another book, and I'm pretty excited about it! I have several books outlined. If only I could find more time in a day!

The Onionologist

The Onionologist bridges a few genres. It's hilarious, but it might also make you question your own path in life. This is very much a book about friendship and found family.Elle, a long-haul flight attendant, has the kind of day at work she'd rather forget. Despite the disappointment, she doesn't wait for everything to come crashing down; when life sends her champagne problems, she resolves to become someone else entirely. On her way, she meets Jude, a handsome Californian, and she has to choose between the life and independence she craves for herself and the love she feels deep in her heart. She shares her journey with her two best friends, Lucy and Angus—the true loves of her life. Together, they navigate life's obstacles and miscalculations.Elle is the glue that holds the trio together, stumbling and fumbling through life as an unlikely TikTok sensation known as 'La Fille Maladroit'.

Review@Readers favorite

" A witty and engaging debut novel..."Author M.J. Parfitt has a fantastic ability to create authentic characters who feel like old friends from the moment they enter the scene, and it was the brilliant sense of warmth and character realism that immediately drew me into this romantic and entertaining novel. The wit and sharp dialogue create an engaging voice. It was nice to see a romance novel where friendships aren't erased or overtaken by the sudden appearance of a new partner.I recommend The Onionologist as a highly original, witty, and engaging romantic drama with a lot to think about long after you've set the book down.

"An emotional rollercoaster wrapped in sharp humor, heartfelt relationships, and a protagonist you can’t help but root for..."Parfitt’s writing style is vivid, irreverent, and unrelenting. The humor sneaks up on you, sometimes like a sharp jab and other times like a warm nudge.Elle’s relationships are the novel’s beating heart, especially her dynamic with Angus and Lucy. The Onionologist is more than a quirky romp through Elle’s misadventures. It’s a story about finding your passion, reclaiming your agency, and learning to laugh at life’s absurdities along the way. I’d recommend it to readers who enjoy character-driven novels with humor and heart, especially fans of authors like Marian Keyes or Sophie Kinsella. It’s perfect for anyone feeling stuck in a rut, questioning their choices, or simply looking for a good laugh.
